I was asked recently by a child when did I stop growing up. You know what they say out of the mouths of babes. I think that this is an interesting question. When do we stop growing? The answer to that question depends on your own perspective I think.
I have had friends that once they finished school said they were so glad they did not have to read another textbook again. This was after they had graduated from college. Some of them have remained true to their word and have read only news papers but they have not read anything more technical. What has happened to them is that they have stayed basically in the same status of life since they uttered those words. For them they had grown up and they were being adult.
For me I am an avid reader and love to read. I like reading novels, self-help books, and anything else that I find interesting. I have continued to read what some would call textbook type books as well. When I am asked when I finished growing up my answer to that is I will tell you when I get there. I don’t think I have not grown up yet. Now I am not saying I am not mature. I am very mature I feel. There is a difference between maturity and being grown up. To me being grown up means you are done growing. I feel that each day I am growing up. I am not talking about being old or reaching maturity. As I continue to grow I continue to become more and more the man I have the potential to be. I figure I will finish on the day I die.
