How far is too far?

It seems that how children grow up in today’s society has changed.  With the internet and technology what children do can be seen.  I don’t know if you have seen a video on YouTube where a father shoot up his daughter’s laptop because she had posted a rant on her Facebook page.  I saw recently where a father make his son wear a sign because he was failing three classes.

Now I am not going to say whether I agree or disagree on the way these fathers handled disciplining their children.  What I do have to say is that it they did take it to the an extreme.  Now I am sure they had reasons for what they did and I am not sure if their children learned any lessons.  What I am sure of is that a number of people have seen what they did and I am sure it has them talking.  What is good parenting and what is bad parenting.  Now I am sure of that there is no such thing as perfect parenting.  My parents were good parents and they will admit that they made a few mistakes here and there but overall they did the best that they knew what to do.  Kids don’t come with instructions and each one is different for that matter.  What a kid needs is love and what a parent needs is respect.  We need to continue to protect our children and yet help them to become good productive citizens.
