Recently I heard someone talk about how they were told to act their age. Now if you follow my blog you know I have perviously had written a blog on dating and age. Ageism is everywhere in the world not just the dating world. In the workplace a lot of the time young people’s ideas are dismissed because they have not had the experiences. While that can sometimes be the case but they can bring a new way of looking at things which can take things to the next level. At the same time older people in the work place can be seen as settled and set in their ways. While that can sometimes be the case they can bring the history to guide changes.
So he balance between extremes can provide a great place for growth and innovation. The key to this happen is listening and learning. Learning is not a one way street. Learning happens with the exchange of ideas. The word is exchange which means a give and take of ideas. Both young and old have to be open to sharing and listening to in order to make a difference.
